We have developed a process known as the "3 E's". Our desire is that a person who goes through this process will resemble those that Romans 12:2 speaks of being "transformed by the renewing of your mind". We have found three elements of a person's spiritual journey that we feel are crucial to this transformation: 1. Exalt the Risen Savior (Love God) The most important step for an individual is to fall in love with God and to worship Him. Without this relationship the rest of the process is ineffective and meaningless. The reason we feel this is important is because Jesus called this the "greatest commandment" in Matthew 22:37-38. While everything we do at Texas Avenue is Christ centered, the place where we concentrate the most as a church body on this first step is our Sunday Morning worship services. 2. Edify the Saints (Love and Encourage Each Other) God doesn't expect His children to go through life alone. This is where the word "church" comes in. We believe the church isn't a building, but is people— people who have been adopted into the family of God through Jesus Christ and are now trying to honor God with their lives. God sees His children as one body, all created with purpose, working together to accomplish His will. This can be found in 1 Corinthians 12:12 & 1 Corinthians 12:18. A good place for an individual to start this part of the process at Texas Avenue is our discipleship classes, where we come together to discuss questions and concerns we may have and to seek prayer, teaching, and encouragement. 3. Evangelize the Lost (Love Everyone) We believe that if you are a follower of Christ and you are still on this earth, He has something for you to do. In what is known as the "great commission" in Acts 1:8, Jesus commanded His followers to be led by the Holy Spirit and to be His witnesses to "the ends of the earth". We feel that if a person has entered into a relationship with God and has seen Him work in their life and the lives of others in the body, then they have a testimony to share with the world. This command is not just for preachers and missionaries— it's for all of Christ's followers. One of the main ways we at Texas Avenue introduce people to this part of our process is to offer the opportunity to become part of a ministry leadership team where one can serve along side of their peers who are also wanting to share the love of Christ with others. While this process is important to us and we feel it offers the most clear explanation of what God is calling us to do at Texas Avenue Baptist Church, there is no form of "time table" that we have where we expect a person to be in the process. Each person's spiritual journey with God looks different and we want all who enter our church to feel that they can grow in their relationship with Christ at the pace that He (Christ) has set, not us. We are only here to love God, encourage you with truth, and share the love that Christ has shown us. 320 Texas Avenue, League City, TX, 77573 281.332.2599 office@tabctexas.org
