Write a Review“A Place for Personal Healing”by tom.brownell
Christian Science churches worldwide offer individuals a place to come together and listen to a weekly Bible-based lesson about the omnipotence of God as infinite Love and completely good. There is a Sunday School for young people up to the ago of 20, and childcare available for those too young for Sunday School. On Wednesday evenings, there is a public meeting where those in attendance can share testimony of personal healing and spiritual growth. The Grants Pass branch church was officially organized in 1914. Today, its members are happy to welcome all spiritual thinkers and seekers of Truth.
Attendee Tips
There are no pastors or clergy at this church; two members are elected to be "Readers," and read passages from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The passages are compiled to form a weekly Bible Lesson by a committee at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston Mass., and read simultaneously in all branch churches worldwide. In addition to the Bible Lesson, the First Reader chooses an additional scriptural selection to be read, along with three hymns to be sung by the congregation and one vocal solo related to that week's lesson. There is an opportunity to give a financial contribution at the Sunday service, but it is completely optional. No collection is taken at the Wednesday testimony meeting. If you are new to the service and have any questions, feel free to ask an usher (or anyone sitting nearby) for help.
